Inconceivable Passion

Inconceivable Passion

The Passion of the Christ was one of the best selling movies of the century. It released on February 25, 2004. In its first five days of playing in theaters it grossed 26.6 million dollars. The Passion grossed even more than the famous award winning Lord of the Rings. It was the highest grossing non-English language movie of all time. The movie was directed by Mel Gibson and stars Jim Caviezel as Jesus. The movie depicts the last days of Christ as told in the New Testament Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I love The Passion of the Christ because it follows close with the Bible, the actors who portrayed the characters fit perfectly and the powerful message it depicts.

The Passion of the Christ follows very closely with scripture and I believe that this is why it was such a great movie. As a Christian I would have been very disappointed if Hollywood would have changed the real story and mixed it with fiction. Millions of people who were not Christians or had never heard about the story of Jesus watched this movie and got saved. Mel Gibson decided to stick as close to scripture as possible and that made this a great movie. If it would have been filmed any other way I do not believe it would have been as memorable of a film as it is. If I could imagine what the last few hours of Jesus' life was like on earth it would be just like he portrayed it in this movie. From the beginning scenes of Jesus struggling in the garden, to flashbacks of precious moments of spending time with his mother as a child and finally his death and resurrection each scene played an important part in the film.

The actors portraying the characters in The Passion fit perfectly for each part. Jim Caviezel who plays Jesus is the best actor they could have picked to portray him. He not only looks the part but he takes acting to a whole new level and really shows the true passion of Christ. His commitment to the part really shows throughout the movie. Without his determination the movie would not have been as believable. It takes a good and skilled actor to move an audience and Jim Caviezel does this numerous times in The Passion. Maia Morgenstern, who plays Mary the mother of Jesus, also played her part well. She was Romanian and only spoke broken English but she still managed to depict the part of Mary impeccably. The picture I had in my head of what Mary the mother of Jesus looked like came to life for me when I watched The Passion of the Christ for the first time. The role of Satan was played by Italian Rosalinda Celentano. While the movie was being filmed a big topic was who was going to play the part of Satan and how was he going to be portrayed. In the end the role of Satan was played by a woman, but she played it very well. She was not dressed as your typical red devil with horns and a pitchfork. She was a pale cloaked figured that looked extremely dark and sinister. Mel Gibson did a wonderful job picking out actors and actresses for each of the parts in the movie, without each and every one of them the movie would not be the memorable award winning picture it is.

The Passion of the Christ depicts the most powerful story of all time. It portrays the love of Jesus Christ our Savior and the ultimate sacrifice he gave by dying on the cross and saving us from our sins. The world would be a very dark, hateful and sinister place if he would not have given his life for us. Not everyone will accept him because a lot of people cannot believe in things that they cannot see. By being able to watch this movie and actually see this kind of love with their own eyes, hopefully it will convince them to believe in him.

I love The Passion of the Christ because it follows close with the Bible, the actors who portrayed the characters fit perfectly and the powerful message it depicts. I think it is one of the best movies ever created. I hope everyone who watches the movie feels the emmotion in it and enjoys it as much as I did. I also hope they realize just how amazing it is and decide to believe in Christ.
